Last week on SNL @k00b talked about how his name refers to koobideh which is a Persian style kebab.
In a few days Persians will celebrate Nowruz which corresponds with the celestial new year, or vernal equinox.
To my westerner understanding it's one of their biggest festivals of the year and everyone takes about two weeks off work.

Haft-Seen

An important element of this is the "haft-sin" table, which translates to "Seven Ss," because each item begins with the persian letter for "s." Every item on the table will bring about good auspices for the new year.
Sabzeh (سبزه) – wheat, barley, mung bean, or lentil sprouts grown in a dish. Samanu (سمنو) – wheat germ sweet pudding. Senjed (سنجد) – oleaster. Serkeh (سرکه) – vinegar. Seeb (سیب) – apple. Seer (سیر) – garlic. Somagh (سماق) – sumac.
This is the list according to Wikipedia, but I believe there may be alternate versions (including gold fish, and coins)
Here is Mickey Mouse's explanation.

Celestial explanation

Nowruz or "new day" technically happens the moment the earth passes into Spring, meaning, if I'm not mistaking, it's axis passes a certain angle relative to the sun. This year, it happens Thursday at 5:01am. On that day, if you see a Persian you can say "Nowruz Mobarak," meaning happy new year.
