A couple weeks ago I carved a valet tray from a solid maple block.
It took a long time, and it was a little bulkier than I had initially imagined. So I bought some more wood (cherry this time), and got a local CNC shop to cut out a 3D CAD drawing I made.
I’ll need to sand down some of the machine grooves, and the walls might now be a bit too steep (they were too shallow when I carved it), but it’s getting closer to a product I can produce at scale.
