Definitely and they do measure that I think in the Geelong Fremantle game . Fremantle was playing on 90odd percent of the time where Geelong was slowing the play down and not playing on when Fremantle was making a come back and the momentum was turning in there favour so Geelong slowed the play down on purpose to try and regain some control . Sometimes teams do this but get it wrong and move slow and results in turn overs and they get punished from fast moving teams

A lot of the time if you go slow the other team will flood more players back to help defend. As everyone can go ahead of the ball if they want during play only time you have to have a certain number of players in each part of the field is at a centre bounce
