Beware of these common scams

We should all understand the importance of keeping your assets safe as you work towards financial independence. Scammers are always coming up with new ways to trick people into handing over their money.
Remember: You'll never give or reveal your login details, or send cryptocurrency or money to anyone if you don't have a signed contract in front of you. Always learn and stay alert—here below are some of the most common scams and few simple ways to protect yourself and your assets.

1. SMS & Phone Scams

Scammers impersonate support team or even friends and family via SMS or phone calls. They use urgent messages to pressure you into clicking harmful links or revealing personal information.
Warning signs: • Account issues - SMSs saying there are issues with your Whatever account or identity verification. Ignore and do not respond! • Urgent action - Calls demanding immediate action, such as transferring crypto or sharing login details. There's no rush, patience is key! • Give access - Requests to install software or grant remote access to your device. Just say "No Thanks”!

2. Investment Scams

Scammers promise high returns with little to no risk, often through fake investment platforms or cryptocurrency schemes. They may show small profits at first to gain your trust before disappearing with your money.
Warning signs: • Unexpected offers - Out of the blue investment offers through social media, emails, or phone calls. Ignore and do not respond! • Guaranteed profits - Unrealistic promises of guaranteed profits. There's no rush, patience is key! • Urgent action - Pressure to act quickly before an “exclusive opportunity” expires. Just say "No Thanks”!

3. Job scams

Fake job offers promising easy money for tasks such as, liking posts or reviewing businesses, are typically scams. Scammers may also impersonate friends or businesses on social media to deceive you.
Warning signs: • Pay upfront - Being asked to pay upfront for a job or transfer money for higher earnings. Ignore and do not respond! • Skip interviews - Job offers that skip interviews and request personal or banking details. Just say "No Thanks”! • New numbers - Social media messages from “friends” with new numbers asking for money. There's no rush, patience is key!

So, how can you protect yourself?

ADD & PREVENT

✓ Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your accounts (authenticator app unlinked for email accounts and security keys have better security than SMS, as it's the least secure option. It's recommend to add more authentications methods, in case you lose access to one). ✓ Keep your messaging app privacy settings restricted to avoid scam messages. ✓ Block all calls from unknown numbers ✓ Set up your phone with voicemail, so when calls from unknown numbers are blocked you always give the option to leave a voice message

CHECK & TELL

✓ Independently check and verify authenticity of any job, investment, or payment request before taking action ✓ Contact organization directly using their official phone numbers or support contact details, not those provided in messages! ✓ Warn family and friends about scams, talk with friends about it ✓ Report and block suspicious messages, calls, or accounts
Your security is your priority. Stay informed, stay alert, and always double-check before taking any action.
The best thing you can do, is do nothing, ignore the noise and keep enjoying your life
