Romantic bonds are how we propagate the species. It's our strongest preprogrammed urge and somehow it's been beaten out of us. Maybe glorifying casual hookups wasn't a great idea. Young people probably don't need encouragement to be irresponsible, after all. Maybe teaching girls to see any attention from a boy as some sort of assault is not working out so well for either sex.
