A study by the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp) showed that cryoablation, a procedure that freezes tumors with liquid nitrogen at -196 °C, was 100% effective in patients with tumors measuring up to 2 cm. This minimally invasive treatment destroys cancer cells by crystallizing their interior, avoiding major surgeries. It is performed with local anesthesia in less than 40 minutes and without the need for hospitalization, reducing risks and recovery time. Currently, its large-scale implementation is evaluated as an effective and less aggressive alternative to treat breast cancer in its early stages.
