11- Banks is the highest upside tackle in this draft. He projects to be the most Trent Williams like of any tackle so we are picking him at 11. He is going to play LG or RT this year depending how Bartch looks at LG (he played great in limited time as a starter when Aaron Banks was hurt but then got hurt himself so didn't see enough to know he is the guy). Eventually Banks become the Trent Williams replacement at LT when Trent retires. Likely after next season or the following year.
43- Williams is huge a huge run stuffing DLineman. While the 49ers also need some pass rush from the interior, they need a run stuffer more. Their D against the run this year was terrible. Need to get back to stop the run first philosophy and Williams is our cornerstone to do that.
75- Taylor is a versatile TE that can block and pass catch. Exactly the type of guy the 49ers need for TE2. Would have preferred to go corner here and hope he fell to 99 but didn't want to take a chance. Need a TE2 especially if the offensive gameplan is going to change a bit without the Deebo threat.
99- Strong is my least favourite pick in this entire mock but Corners were flying off the board and I didn't take one at 75 when a couple guys I really liked were available. Fortunately, the 49ers have two stud young corners so we need depth at corner more than anything. Strong can be a rotational piece and play on ST. I do like that his scouting report says he plays press coverage well. That is something the 49ers were lacking last year.
112- Mukuba at 112 is my favourite pick in this entire mock. Mukuba is a ball hawk. 49ers have some thumpers at Safety who are great in run support but they need more INTs from the group. Mukuba also brings versatility because he can play Nickel Corner as well, which would give the 49ers a lot of optionality.
138- Prather is a poor man's Tet McMillan. Outside guy with size and speed. Different kind of receiver than what the 49ers currently have. Also fit the mold of a post Deebo different type of offense. I know Kyle will be happy to waste another 1st round pick on a WR but not me. We have Pearsall, Aiyuk, Jennings, Kittle, CMC, Juice, Taylor who I drafted at 75, and Cowing to contribute to the passing attack and I am sure they will bring in a veteran WR as well. Let's try to catch lightning in a bottle with a guy that offers something different in Prather who can be a rotational piece and come in on passing downs as a vertical and 50/50 ball threat.
139- Oladejo. I am only comfortable punting Edge to the end of the 4th round because I expect the 49ers will address starting DE opposite Bosa in FA. If they don't then Edge is a first round priority. If they do, they need more of a rotational piece as they already have Leonard Floyd and Robert Beal as stud depth guys. Oladejo comes in as a developmental rotational piece. He has speed and power but lacks technique and struggles in the run game.
148- Stutsman is another one of my favourite picks in this mock. He had a great combine. Stutsman doesn't excel at anything but his scouting report describes him as "efficient and productive" and "football smart". Exactly what the 49ers need as a 3rd linebacker. Hopefully they re-sign Greenlaw and Winters can stay as LB3 and Stutsman slides in to LB4 and ST but if not I am cool with Warner, Winters, Stutsman. Especially with Robert Saleh as their DC.
The rest of the draft I took Best player available at positions of need except for Majors who I took a flyer on as a future C prospect.
I really like the Williams and Makuba picks, as well. They're both guys I'm happy to see still available when I get into those parts of the draft.

If the 49ers got Banks, Williams and Mukuba I don't care what they do the rest of the draft. They can draft all WRs RBs punters and kickers for all I care.
Sadly I think McMillan is going to fall to 11 and Kyle won't resist and take him.

I was a little surprised at the 1st round upside pick. I'd expect the 49ers to be in full blown win now mode. Is it just that the line needs so much help that he gives you both?

That's the benefit of Banks. He helps now and hopefully develops into a Pro Bowl LT in the future. Whether they play him at LG or RT he should be an upgrade over what they had last year. LT is such a difficult position to get a stud that drafting at, a rare for 49ers, 11 you almost have to run the card in on Banks.
Of course if we were allowed to trade, I might have taken a different approach because I would have loved to have another 3rd rounder in this draft. So I might have traded back a bit and picked up a 3rd rounder.
It's too bad about Simmons injury uncertainty. He would have been perfect for 49ers but I don't think they will have him on their board.
