An appeal to the bitcoiner community: can we stop using Telegram to organize meetups, Bitcoin Beer, conferences, etc? In general, can we stop using Telegram to talk to each other?
Apart from the non-existent encryption for groups and dubious cryptography for individual chats, apart from the obscure governance, do we really want to communicate on the go-to platform for scammers and shitcoiners of all kinds?
No, thank you.
How can we break the vicious cycle of Telegram? Is there a Nostr-based solution with good usability that is available for web, Android, and iOS?

SimpleX has been pretty good from what I've seen, but I think people are more interested in actually using Signal over SimpleX for some reason. Haven't explored a lot of NOSTR based messaging apps to be honest.

I second SimpleX

Yeah there's a ton wrong with Telegram. Number 1, not anonymous. Number 2, so many scammers out there.
It's hard to get people to switch tools though.
Simplex is an often mentioned. There's definitely some growing pains with that one. And I've never heard of Signal over Simplex - how does that work?

Telegram is a tool like X, WhatsApp or Discord. It has the most features of IM/social media apps so not sure what's the problem. Also scammers use same privacy apps.
But for privacy I prefer SimpleX for the simple reason you don't need phone number to register.

What do I care who else (scammer, clowns) use a convenient software?

I find Signal really good. Telegram is now dealing with so many spammers, so I can understand why you need the change.
