Swim, surf, skate and watch the sunset.
The Balta descent is an icon of the city of Lima and with good reason. It is a beautiful place even in winter, but in summer it goes beyond everything. Going down those stairs to the beach is like leaving everything behind, going to a parallel world where stress and worries are no longer there.
This man is a real "beach dog" which is a colloquial phrase from Venezuela that refers to a beach person who only needs a pair of shorts and that's it, he doesn't even wear sandals, I'm sure he must live close by and he goes down to the beach so much that his feet don't burn from walking barefoot and believe me when I tell you that the ground was extremely hot.
A different vibe, surfing and delicious food, that's all that matters. This is the season when the green coast is filled with surfing schools. The classes last 1 hour and 20 minutes and cost 100 to 120 soles (26 USD to 32 USD), which includes the wetsuit, the board, and an instructor who accompanies you throughout the class. If you already know how to surf, you can rent a wetsuit and board for 80 soles (21 USD).
Along the green coast there is a great variety of beaches, some with stones and others with sand. Among the sandy beaches are Playa Yuyos, Playa Sombrilla and Playa Agua Dulce. I do not recommend going on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays because they are packed, an impressive excess of people. On these days, children tend to get lost very easily. It is common and sad at the same time to see children crying looking for their relatives and vice versa.
I recently discovered a beach on the Costa Verde called "Redondo II", it is a beach with sand and stones at the same time, although on weekends most beaches are very crowded, with this beach it is the opposite. It has free umbrellas for visitors or you can bring your own.
On weekends there is a Miraflores municipality awning where they lend you books to read while you are on the beach (they also have children's books)
On the Costa Verde it's not all about surfing and swimming, there is also a cycle path where you can ride your bike, skate or skateboard while taking in the beautiful scenery.
Delicious Peruvian food along the way... and also Venezuelan
On the boardwalk there is also a huge cycle path that runs parallel to the one on the green coast.
It is impossible not to be captivated by the charm of the sunset, you can appreciate it from above on the boardwalk or below on the Costa Verde.
