It's about math, so is the Selfish Gene, btw. Most of that book is verbalizing game theory and systems of ordinary differential equations.

The key point is that he does so without difficult equations and heaps of numbers. 😁
I'd like to dabble into game theory as well at some point, though. The part about Prisoner's Dilemma was quite interesting.

The series I recommended is also mostly written essays, from all throughout history, describing how various problems were solved mathematically.
