Hello SN
With apple complying in the UK , now more than ever I want to make my own “cloud” for my phone + laptop.
The most obvious is using my pre existing Start9 to run an instance of Nextcloud.
What are the thoughts on using your btc/lightning node to run other software. My start9 setup has been rock solid reliable, but worried about security aspects of running more than bitcoin related things.
Run on the pre-existing node or build a NAS/separate server for such things?
Cheers!

No. Every software you run need to be maintain (update, fix) and add complexity, in case of the most valuable software you could run (Bitcoin) where you have the hardest money in human existence, well... better to run along and know very well how to maintain it.
Build a separate machine where you could play without having the risk to fuck up the best tool we have.

I might be wrong, but if I had to guess @DarthCoin could probably give a good answer. This seems like something right in his wheelhouse.

It’s one of those: do I fuck with the machine that allows me to send sats to people kind of thing!
