I don't know much about 3D construction techniques - but I do have 3D printers.
I imagine the problems with construction pretty much mirrors the problems with 3D printing anything:
Material durability / layer adhesion
Size of thing being printed
Some shapes are just hard to print
I'd imagine for simple smaller buildings (rectangle shape with a few door / window cutouts) 3D printing could probably work great.
However, if you have large buildings or complex shapes / architecture then it might not be worth it. Further, being new, what is known about long term durability.
