I would argue that the conservative movement wasn't culturally relevant until Trump basically destroyed it. He's not a conservative. He's transactional. He wants to win. He takes ideas from all over the place. Often no rhyme or reason.
The people that voted conservative (R&D) wanted someone that would do what they want. Trump is a populists. The average person doesn't think deeply about politics and ethics. This time around Trump had tons of libertarians around him. They aren't a part of the libertarian party but the Paypal Mafia are not republicans. They want a corporate privatization of many of the government functions. This is a very libertarian idea. At least for many in the movement. There are plenty that oppose and hate this. Like I said, its diverse.
So I think Trump fans should be thanking the heroes of libertarian ideas because I believe they are at the core of what is going on now.
I think you are right about Trump.
And, like Milei, he is a scam. And a trap for too many people.

What do you mean a trap? If I like three things he does but don't vote, let alone for him is that falling into a trap? Or is voting for him a trap? Or is thinking he will save everyone the trap? I don't know any liberty people that have their eyes closed trusting Trump. Plenty of republicans though...
Honestly, I try to avoid talking about the personalities because they live and die. The institutions and the belief in them is the real enemy. That's my view at least.

The entire system is a trap. He is just using your desire for improvement from the problems they created in the first place, to acquire more power.
Take the example of a mafia: you have to pay the mafia $1000 every month or otherwise they will rapt you and probably rape your daughter. One day another mafia comes around the corner and says: ey, I can promise you the same, but I will charge you only $700, otherwise I will rape your daughter equally, but ey!! it's $300 cheaper!!
The trap is the system. Supporting anyone in the system is falling into a trap.
