I would like to see more wallet apps adding tools to find near by merchants accepting bitcoin. It's a win-win for all participants.
Maybe could be a BTCmap idea for integration?

Example:

  • bitcoin user is travelling to a new place, country, and doesn't know any merchant accepting BTC.
  • open a bitcoin (LN) wallet app and click on button: "show me near by (btc) merchants"
  • app will display in different colors, those that are linked to the wallet app, with a discount offered, special offer or simply are affiliate.
  • user can consult the discounts offered paying through that wallet app or without.
  • merchants, by linking their business into an app, is a direct promotion ad for their business, so they are willing to pay for that. How? Directly to the wallet app developer a % and another % goes to the... customer (wallet app user) through a discount when is paid with that app.

In this way all 3 participants can win:

  • developer have an incentive directly from his app use
  • merchant have a direct promo to the consumer
  • consumer have a direct discount

I'd like to do this but on the social side, not necessarily the wallet side

If you have a business with a nostr presence you should be able to geo-stake a physical location for discoverability

Nostrification would allow for different UI/UX contexts and increase the network effect

What about to start with an app like nostr-uber?
A car-sharing app coomunicating over nostr with a built in nwc wallet.
Bonus: you can link it with lightning.video to stream irl a camera from the taxi you order, showing a dashboard view of the route is coming to you?

There's been attempts at that, @AtlantisPleb in particular could speak to it as he's come as close as anyone to making it work... but I think the two-sided real-time market is difficult to bootstrap... need to have a critical mass of people in a pretty narrow geography to make it sticky

LV will def be a big part though of anything local though, when people look for business on google maps or facebook pages they also look for pictures/videos of that business

You have the "test driver"! The famous BitDriver from El Salvador

reply

hmm... a nostr app that knows your location could suggest business in the vacinity... imagine if you landed in El Salvador and got an ad for BitDriver

reply

BINGO!
Also you can even send an alert to those services before you arrive, that you are willing to use them.

This will drastically increase the ECB (Economy Circulating in Bitcoin)

and less CBDC (Corporate Backed Digital Currencies)

reply

I take that as a failed project already

True, anyhow I prefer to reduce noise, face my fears and deal only with a limited circle of people around me.

Those falling into the CBDC game will pay the consequences, same as those that have fallen into jabs in 2020. History repeat

however, out of topic. I like the idea of the map! Something maybe Bitcoin Design community should consider implementing in the guides.

Bitcoin Design community should consider implementing in the guides.

exactly and close the bad mouth of those saying "but I cannot find where to spend BTC..."

Promotions and discounts within the app make things even more interesting.

You could even have a small marketplace with deliveries for loyal customers.

reply

Great idea!

reply

It is an excellent project that should be presented to developers as soon as possible, so that it can begin to be implemented and strengthen the Bitcoin economy.

reply

I would love this.
