Had to post this one later in the day because my son continued his ringette tournament today and he had an early morning game. That means I can't go on my usual Sunday early morning run and had to do it in the afternoon instead. My son scored 4 goals and had a 2 assists (the other team was weak), so that was a great experience. Anyways, here are this week's stats:
Tuesday - 9.3km - 6:27/km pace Saturday - 6km - 6:14/km pace Sunday - 18km - 6:07/km pace
Weekly total: 33.3km
Alcohol consumption: None
How it felt this week:
Still feeling slightly sick, although much better compared to last week. Work had been busy, averaging 10hr-11hr work days, and dragging tired legs to runs don't help improve my pace. I'm glad my son had his ringette tournament on Saturday, which gave me a reason to take Saturday off. Having the extra day off improved my Sunday long run's pace to just over 6 minutes per kilometer. Looking forward to the day I break 6 minutes and get into 5s. Hopefully it will happen sooner than later. Overall felt pretty good compared to last week. Although not yet fully recovered, but being less sick always feels better than being more sick. Still haven't done a 20km+ run yet. Aiming to get that done next week.
I've decided to add a count down timer to add some urgency to the training. Weeks before race day: 11 weeks.
That's really impressive, especially sick and in the winter and on top of working so much.

Thanks. The cold had been pretty tough. It finally warmed up for today's long run, 3 degrees C. But warmth in Vancouver means rain, and running in the rain for almost 2hrs kindda sucks. I guess the silver lining is that all the snow will finally melt away, lowering the risk of injuries during runs.
I'm feeling completely spent after that weak ass 18km though. Which is why I'm just lying on the couch in front of the TV, sipping on my energy drink, and waiting for the all star games to begin, haha.

Congratulations for your POW, thanks for sharing your journey.
I run a marathon a couple of years ago, it was a great experience. I'm not a fast runner, my goal "only" was to cross the finish line.
I miss the long training run, there were a great tool for my mental health.

I'm running a similar pace as you were during your race. I'm working to improve my time though. The goal is to finish under 4 hours.
Congrats on your prove of work too. Regardless of time, finishing a full marathon deserves a pat in the back.

Great job! If you have any questions let me know. I ran a 2:27 marathon back in the day. Try to keep up the sleep and hydration

Damn, 2:27 is very fast! I'm just aiming to go under 4hr.

Good luck! The longe runs are the best way to prepare. Proof of wrk!

Thanks for the advice.

9.3 what happened there? I loved round numbers running either stopped at 9 or went to 10 haha

I usually do my Tuesday runs during my kids' art class session, which means I have a limited amount of time to run. Their class is 1.5hrs, so I usually run 30mins 1 way then 30mins back, total 1hr of running. That allows me time to change into a new set of clothes before walking to pick them up from the parking spot.
I'm normally able to hit 10km in 1hr, but I was going at a slower pace than usual on Tuesday, so was only able hit 9.3km in 1hr. That's the reason for the not round number.

Ahh yes makes sense. Got to get the runs in when you can
