Stacker news is, above and beyond, the best social media experience I’ve ever had. It’s certainly the only one that is net positive, except maybe the early days of MySpace. It’s also, ironically, the one in which I know way less people in the real world than any other. I don’t think this is the reason I dig it. I mention that as I think it’s a testament to just how awesome the platform is.
Comparing it to nostr, which is a totally different can of worms, doesn’t make sense to me.
Not sure why more bitcoiners aren’t into it yet…
fwiw, I like stacker.news for what it is. Nostr just seems like a Twitter clone, designed for doom scrolling, hot takes, and meme posting. It's not a format that lends itself well for more in depth conversation. I agree with @DarthCoin when he says SN is more like BitcoinTalk / Reddit

True meeting of people - and their true minds
I’ve talked about more wholesome/“real life” on SN than I ever have/will on nostr.
It’s the only social place I get genuinely excited and show my partner - non bitcoiner - regularly.
I’m very ok with it not being the Uber popular place to be - as I doubt it would have the same feel to it.

I spent a long time thinking it was because we weren't good enough.
Then I learned it was more complicated than that (to put it nicely) and got really fucking pissed off at how naive I was.
Regardless, the best frame for us is that we aren't good enough, that I'm not being smart enough, and that I'm not working hard enough.
