In any case, the monologue isn't as good as the smug America-haters think it is. #1 in defense spending is because every other country is free-riding off America's imperialism. It's still Pax Americana out there, and every other country gets to spend a bigger fraction of their budget on domestic social concerns because they outsource their security to America. One good thing about Donald Trump is that he actually calls out other countries on this.

Fwiw, I don't like much of what our government does, and I don't support American adventurism abroad. American education is abysmal, as is the healthcare system. But if you were forced to call a country in the world "greatest", it could only be USA or China right now... there is no other legitimate option to even consider.

America is so in love with itself that it is too blind to see, that it's not everybody's darling. There are other nations, other cultures, other volks out there with their own greatness.
