That’s actually a great idea!
Several years ago I visited NY for about a month, my english was so-so and didn’t know anybody, so one day I bought a pizza from 7 eleven to try the infamous American pizza (bad idea, at least from 7 eleven) and sat outside with an homeless guy.
He was bathing with some cranberry vitaminic water (?) and wipes so the starter to talk with him was indeed asking him why 💀, I shared my pizza with him, talked about NY and the conditions of living, showed him Euro banknotes etc.
One thing that struck me was how new yorkers are coded in a way to extremely ignore homeless people on the streets, they would run over them without ever acknowledging their existence… a stark contrast from people that I know? Italians are used to at least acknowledge them and say No.
Whatever, the guy was the only guy I talked to in NY and did so everyday at that 7 eleven, at the end I made sure to give him some week worth of credit for whole foods (I didn’t know it was a premium store so maybe that’s why he was super happy about it).
The moral of the story might be the fact that we tend to forget that people more unfortunate than us might still be good people that didn’t get corrupt by their unfortunate situation as most do.
