This.
What is it going to take to get Bitcoiners to wake up and actually start changing the world?
I get that it's not easy right now, but it feels like these larping "maxis" are working harder on getting their fiat debit cards than they are getting off fiat. The Bitcoin community looks rotten right now and I'm pissed about it.

But you see them saying "nobody in my neighborhood is accepting bitcoin...".
FFS of course the merchants will never accept your bitcoin if you always go to them with a fucking visa card. They will never know you have bitcoin to pay.

It doesn't have to be either-or, Darth. For most people it is impossible for them to live totally on Bitcoin today. They either use fiat, or they stop buying groceries, fuel, etc.
You can encourage adoption, build circular economies, and pay with Bitcoin where possible while simultaneously using fiat for those things that require it, and if you're going to be using fiat, why not use a fiat card that rewards sats?
It can even be a way of steering the conversation toward bitcoin without making yourself look like preacher.

I can understand that not all can live only with bitcoin.
But why in the hell you are going to give to a 3rd party your sats for a stupid fiat visa card, instead of just using a regular visa card if you still have fiat ?
Why people always forget WTF is Bitcoin?
These so called "bitcoin debit cards" are the most moronic thing ever. We will never ever have a bitcoin standard if we continue to use these crap cards.
USE FIAT CASH if you really want to see progress and force the fucking idiot merchant that do not accept bitcoin to not use VISA.
VISA is a disease.

So how do I buy my gasoline today?

Those are the kinds of industries that will be very last to get off fiat. So, it's okay to continue using fiat with them, for a while.
These kinds of movements happen with a domino affect. Start with the small merchants.... mom-and-pop, brick & mortar.... and this will force the suppliers of those shops to consider making the switch.... which will force larger institutions and countries to make the switch eventually.
The problem is, no one is really even pushing the smallest dominos to fall. Bitcoiners have to be willing to boycott some merchants, and go out of their way to support others. We have to start small.... we can't go after the big oil companies first. That will come later.
So, pay for gas with fiat now.... but go out of your way to find local farmers accepting Bitcoin for produce & meats.
With so many Bitcoiners using "bitcoin" debit/credit cards, I'm doubtful this revolution is ever going to even get off the ground. We're playing right into the hands of the central bankers while we larp about taking down fiat. As a community, we are not angry enough about fiat. We're too comfortable sleeping with the enemy. It's that simple.

Exactly.
If we don't start a war with the central banks, then we will never win a war against the central banks.
Trojan Horse theory can only get us so far. Eventually, enough of us have to just say NO to fiat, even if it (temporarily) makes our lives inconvenient.
I've tried getting off fiat.... but it's really tough because even the Bitcoiners around me aren't very supportive. This goal would not be very hard to achieve if we actually tried. There are enough Bitcoiners in my town that we could create a real circular economy. But they aren't very interested. Just NGU for 99% of them. Fucking unbelievable.

I argue it’s where you are in your Bitcoin journey. If you’ve been in space for years and have a huge stack of “Bitcoin”, you’ve got a huge store of value and likely generational wealth. Then you have new comers who talk in “sats,” not bitcoins and are trying every way they can to stack sats to one day get a solid stack. It’s all about perspective and we should be careful to judge. I doubt those ridiculing people were spending sats when they had as little as some of us?

With the Fold credit card, if you opt for the annual fee (or monthly payment), you’ll receive a 2% cash back card. Alternatively, you could consider the Fidelity Visa or the Citi Double Cash Back card, which offers the same rate with no fees.
If you’re not a Fold + member, you’ll earn 1.5% cash back, which is comparable to the Capital One 1.5% Cash Back Visa card.
Ultimately, the decision comes down to your preference for receiving cashback in Bitcoin and supporting a Bitcoin company or using alternative cards with no fees.

Digging deeper into the blog post about it, it appears that spending on the card contributes to their ACH bill pay reward program. Essentially, you can earn between 0.25% and 1.5% extra if you pay your bills using Fold.
I’ve added myself to the waitlist.
Cheap plug.
