Hi, I’m cryotosensei. I collect rough papers and cardboard boxes at school, as well as lug them to the recycling machine across the road.
It’s for the money, money, money! I did it as a way of reminding myself that no matter how emotionally battered I am at work, I still have the capacity to work towards my own goals.
Though it has evolved to something of greater significance.
Especially when I pair it with the habit of changing into my running outfit. I take the papers to the recycling machine, turn around and run to the nearest subway station.
It’s a clear meaningful break between work and life. When I run, I’m too busy trying to catch my breath than ruminate about work stuff. By the time I reach the subway station, I will be sweating, which makes the expulsion of toxics - both physical and mental - shiok!1 My stomach will be growling; I will start hunting around for sustenance.
Do you have any transition routines that you’re proud to have integrated into your life? WLB FTW!

Footnotes

  1. shiok is Singlish for very enjoyable.
Congratulations, from what I see this habit is good for you. I hope you are making good gains with it, physically and financially. Is this work turning into good Satoshis?

Luckily I was a tourist so the police gave me a pass, but I was shocked to find out Singapore fines $500 for drinking water on the subway! I’m not eating a Duran fruit!!
Do you not hydrate??
