It sounds simple, but it requires my shameless attitude and decisiveness.
Let me explain. After the bell rang to signify dismissal today, I immediately changed into my running outfit. But nope, I couldn’t disappear from school because we had a staff meeting. I sauntered into the Auditorium and waited for the meeting to begin.
The staff meeting was mercifully short, but just when I was about to head home, I realised that my school’s Staff Welfare Committee had organised a lo hei (prosperty toss) to commemorate Chinese New Year. I was assigned to the same table as my Principal! Thankfully, she didn’t ask me awkward questions.
I sped like the Road Runner when the party broke up. Changing into my running outfit helped me leave school at the earliest convenience. If I had appeared in my normal outfit during the Staff Meeting, I don’t think I would have run at all.
Hence, what are your ways to reduce ignition costs?
I similarly get more running in by wearing clothes I can run in. My daughter loves to play race, which is great exercise, but I often make the excuse of not being dressed appropriately.

It’s amazing how little kids dash like the wind

Over short distances with lots of sharp turns, she is legitimately hard to keep up with.
