or do you think it's more of a framing issue?

for example, when a spider eats its fricking babies, nobody cares, it just gets a nursery rhyme made about it.

now if a human did that, they would rightly be labeled a psycho.

personally, i believe that evil does exist, I suppose in the more biblical sense.

what do you guys think?

Yes; of there are objective moral orders, breaking them — on purpose and with malevolence— gotta be something approaching evil.

do you think that if aliens could observe us, they would attribute value judgments to our actions, or would they just be like , ah yes, crazy humans. how much do we attribute to a moral code because we are conscious.

i wonder this myself, like if i saw a jeff dahlmer monkey who, would i think he was evil? probably. if he was serial raping though, i would probably think, well yeah, consent isn't a thing in the animal kingdom

Evil exists and we are all sure of that, evil has made human beings commit the worst atrocities in the world, saying that it is right, evil has destroyed families and entire countries and if it did not exist why do we constantly ask ourselves if we are doing things right?

Just because a phenomenon is emergent doesn't mean that it is not objectively real. "Evil" is emergent within living systems, and more concretely, among human create social systems (and only those so far as we know). We can think of a lion rending apart an antelope as "evil" in in the sense that it is the darker side of life, but not really in the sense that it is wrong. Certain human behaviors we can say are evil, and the motivations, forces that incentivize those behaviors, social systems that reinforce them we can call evil as well.

So yes, evil does exist.
