The host btw said I can’t cook inside because of missing ventilation so I’d have to do it outside on the patio.

poor financial decisions and an oven saved me until I bought an induction stovetop for 100 bucks, a bargain
then I got angry at myself because I wanted something cool (induction) but without knowing how to use it (I burned every dish)

Weren't you only surprised by how efficient they are? It's crazy how much faster they heat food compared to hot stoves that first have to inefficiently heat the pan instead of generating the heat inside the pan. Water boils sooo quickly (and also stops boiling very quickly if you turn it off).

I was flabbergasted (new word of the day) to say the least! In Europe we are used to gas taking at least 10 minutes to boil water for pasta, now it takes 3 or 4 minutes, magic!

Yeah fortunately my first experience with an induction stovetop was at a workplace and all I wanted to do was boil water for some noodles. I was shocked and added a new item to my home wish list.
