Cats are not as domesticated as dogs. They're sometimes wild and unpredictable. 

Its weird, even though they have grown up together, eat together, and share the same litter box, its like a flip switches and they are bitter enemies. 
And they are female, both spayed. 
Its just something you have to put up with, but usually I am quick enough to stop it.
Half the time one cat is belly up by then, though.

I think two cats are a whole different thing. In my experience cats like dogs, but they don't like each other too much. The cat in the picture bullied our old cat mercilessly.
