Don’t underestimate this sundry shop at Blk 748 Yishun Street 72. It has the ability to make three generations happy. It was the first shop where my son bought a toy after being forced to save up for some time. It is the go-to shop whenever my father-in-law comes to town because we bombard him with home improvement works, resulting in him scurrying here to buy the necessary stuff.
Anyway, today I asked the auntie whether she knows the difference between Nippon Odourless Paint and Benjamin Moore Paint. Alas, auntie has never heard of Benjamin Moore before. But she proceeded me to tell me more about Nippon Odourless Paint.
  • can be washed.
  • only comes in 5 litres. $90-100 per can.
  • one 5-litre can may be enough to paint two rooms.
  • one coating of white paint may be enough for my white walls. But if I need to paint over my green walls, I will need to apply an underlaying layer (打底), so two coatings may be necessary.
I didn’t get the burning question in my mind resolved: will going ahead with Nippon Odourless yield significant cost savings or shall I just indulge in Benjamin Moore? (Hence, the purpose of this post.)
But I did walk away from the shop, having bought three packets of Super Wet Wiper Sheets. Told you earlier that this shop makes people happy, regardless of their age!
