Ok so right now we have a birthrate decline in most places and young people can't afford houses or kids apparently, then you have teens falling in love with chatgpt models and armies of feckless simps spending money on OF because their rizz meter is so low that nobody wants to procreate with them.
Now let's add super realistic sex robots that also can communicate, blade-runner style, would men even bother trying? or at least a critical enough mass not to bother so that the population would just decline even further? I mean think about it, you've got your super robot, it won't divorce you and if you actually want to communicate, it can do that.
or maybe the top-end robots would be so expensive that they would remain out of reach for most men?
I think men who will use these robots are men who otherwise would not have any sex at all. So no birthrate decline from"
reply
i would disagree because the level im sex robot I'm talking about would be indistinguishable and a generation of men would grow up on them (this is purely theoretical of course, i don't think we will reach this level of tech necessarily )
reply
It's yet another thing that's going to exert strong selection pressure on the population.
Almost certainly, there will be a noticeable impact on birthrates. However, long-term it will mean more humans who aren't into banging machines.
reply
robots aside, with all the death nails going into birthrates right now, what do you think fixes the problem? the replacement rate is already way too low and there arent enough working people to prop up the ponzi that is pension funds.
funny how a few decades people worried about the exact opposite

No. Only losers will f*ck robots. This isn’t about dumping your load, sex is a spiritual act of unity and love. Men and women are two halves of one whole. Either gender failing to understand and love the other is a failure in their own humanity. Not only do the human species depend upon procreation, but it might be the singularly greatest accomplishment to successfully carry forward and care for your lineage.
reply
in theory yes, but when I look around at the average person, I'm not seeing higher spiritual beings of love and unity. like go walk around British city centre on a Friday night, these animals trying to rut

I think it will substantially effect the birth rate, some humans still hunt, but a burger is just easier. Also prices will eventually get cheaper and a loan to get an AI sex bot will still be cheaper than a wife.
I'm personally happily married, and wouldn't leave my wife for a robot, but I'm positive that people will absolutely take the easy path if available.
reply
I don't think people would necessarily leave their wives for a robot but statistically, most marriages fail and after the very, very expensive failure, most men come back on the market in their 50s, with their finances capped by half and usually very bitter.
in this case, i could see them going full robot, since presumably the robot could also cook and do all kinds of stuff.
if they do ever make super realistic ones, i bet they will have a subscription model too, have to lease one! black mirror should really do an episode on this lol

Who can afford the sexbots in this economy! Mrs Palmer never goes out of fashion.
