Last we checked in with the Heat, they had completed their ABL season with a 20-20 record and finished 3rd in the league, which earned them a spot in the semifinals against the Adelaide Giants.
I am pleased to report the Heat won their best of three series against the Giants 2-0. Here is how it played out.
Game 1: The Heat score two runs early and managed to hang on for a 2-1 win. A great pitching performance from SP Tucker Smith leads the way as he goes 6 innings giving up only 1 run. The key hit came off the bat of DH Angel Mateo in the form of a solo homerun.
Game 2: The Heat win the second and series clinching game 5-3. An excellent pitching performance from SP Jong-Hae Won sets the pace as he goes 6 innings giving up only 2 runs and 2 hits. The offense was led by C Alex Hall who had a monster night at the plate with a 4-5 game, including a homerun.
The Heat now face off against the Canberra Cavalry who upset the number one seed Sydney Blue Sox in their Semifinal matchup. The final series will be best of three and take place this weekend. I will post the results on Sunday.
Go Heat!
Sats for all,
GR
