I had clearly gone incredibly far down the rabbit hole before I brought up bitcoin to any of my IRL friends. The shaming and "ponzi scheme" callouts surprised me, even though they really shouldn't have I suppose.

Once immersed it is difficult to recognize how far away they are. We call them normies for a reason. Some of us call them lemmings.

I read this many years ago. It's recommended reading for anyone surprised about the lack of adoption or, at least, bitcoin getting fair shake.
