The Heat played their final series of the season against the top ranked, Sydney Blue Sox, and managed to come away with a 2 game split.
Here is how it played out:
Game 1: The Heat drop the opener 8-2. Despite a couple early runs and a good outing from SP Tucker Smith, the Heat bullpen could not hold the Blue Sox at bay and the bats went silent after the first. The lone bright spot being a 2 hit night from CF Jhon Diaz.
Game 2: The Heat rebound with a 3-2 win. A stellar outing from SP Jong-Hae Won and the bullpen held off the Blue Sox bats so the Heat could pick up a few runs for the win. SS Carlos Colmenarez hit a homerun to highlight the Heat offense.
Game 3: The Blue Sox roared back and won in a laugher, 12-2. A rough outing from the pitchers and not much offense to speak of. The lone bright spot being a home run from 1B Enderson Delgado.
Game 4: The Heat manage to get a 4-3 victory to split the series in the final regular season game of the year. A good outing from Jake Bowey and the bullpen kept the Heat in the game until the bats came to life. Highlighted by 2 hit nights from Ulrich Bojarski, Alex Hall and Johnny Ascanio.
The Heat finish the season 20-20 and in third place in the ABL. They will now face off against the 2nd place Adelaide Giants in the semi-final playoff series for a chance to go to the championship series.
