Look at that grumpy face lol

Having this beast by your side would definitely up your cool factor!

This dog reminds me of one of the dogs in an old movie. The family moves or something and four dogs have to make it back to them. This dog gets hit by a porcupine. I cant remember what the movie is called...
reply
Yes! Homeward Bound. That dog was an American Bulldog. I actually had a dog (best dog I ever owned) from the same breeder as the dog in the movie. American Bulldogs are similar genetically to Dogo Argentina dogs.
reply
I havent watched that movie in forever. I remember watching it at my grandmas house when I was young. VHS in fact!

reply
Im a bit surprised you recognize the movie with my lame explanation.
reply
I knew exactly where you were going. I love that dog.
reply
Now I am interested to find out who the voice actors were for each dog. I think that was half the reason why it was so memorable!
reply
I think you're right
I am so dog ignorant. This dog looks like a pit bull
reply
You're not ignorant. It's a bulldog breed, at least what I consider a real bulldog. By that I mean not the poor, unhealthy breed known as the English Bulldog, which suffers from breeding for extreme characteristics. Bull breeds include pit bulls, Staffies, American Bulldogs, and many more.
reply
Ahh okay thanks for the clarification
reply
Dogo Argentino is a large mastiff-type breed but Pitbull is a terrier breed. This is one major difference between the two.
reply
The Dogo Argentino was created in the 1920s in the province of Cordoba, located in the central region of the Republic of Argentina, by Dr. Antonio Nores Martinez, a doctor with a passion for dogs. He set out to create a large breed with exceptional hunting skills and strong work ethic by methodically crossbreeding many different purebreds, including the Great Dane, Bull Terrier, Boxer, Bulldog, Pointer, Irish Wolfhound, Spanish Mastiff, and Pyrenean Mastiff.
reply
I get it. Thanks. I remembered I read somewhere it's a mix of Irish wolfhound and pyrenean Mastiff only. But it was just half knowledge. I saw the foundation base that didn't include Great Dane but a now extinct Cordoba fighting dog, a mastiff breed, which looks pretty similar to Dogo Argentino. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%C3%B3rdoba_fighting_dog
reply
The genetics that create all these type dogs is nuts. For instance, I remember reading that English Bulldogs and Great Danes are close genetically! The whole world of bulldogs has lots of controversy. For American Bulldogs, there is a mystery as to what breeds contributed.
reply
Yes, you're right. I've also found this topic to be very confusing many times.
Let's just say, dogs are dogs all are lovely all our the best friend of us.
reply
It looks like a pitbull by the face but not by its size. Dogo Argentino are large dogs while pitbulls are medium sized breed. Considerably the bite force of pitbull is not even half that of a Dogo Argentino's.
Both are hunter dogs and need a lot of training.

When are we getting this beautiful puppy? 🤠

Those are great dogs. They're fun to watch, and in my experience they are very friendly.

Another Beast! The dog has more bite force than the Lion has. One more dog, Kangal, also posses more bite force than the lion.
