I was going to do a post on recommended blood markers to check for keeping on top of health and performance, but then I thought, how many people even get bloodwork done, outside of some very basic pannels when you're sick or have an ongoing medical issue.
literally nobody i know in the UK gets bloodwork done of their own accord, my dad used to have some tests as part of his work physical, but that was it.
so i figured why not ask here
are you a blood checker? if not, is there a reason? expensive, hard to find the time etc?
I have blood tests every 6 months or so, mostly to see the levels of testosterone in my blood and other parameters, when doing sports, I am interested in these parameters.

so you're also monitoring you own stuff, are blood tests/ labs affordable where you live?
reply
It costs me about 30 euros to analysis, about 31.5$, I think it's an average price, neither too much nor too little, how much does it cost in your country?
reply
there's a price list of stuff, so the more things you want checked the more expense, if it's just one of two things then sometimes less than ten dollars. usually i check quite a few things (lipids, hormones, organ markers, some vitamin levels etc) and, probably on average pay maybe 50 - 75 euros.
in the UK the cost would be so high i wouldn't ever be able to afford it at a private lab i don't think (unless they are now way cheaper, which isn't usually the case!)

I mean, they charge you for parameters? a friend told me that he went to a laboratory that charged like this, I think it depends a lot on the place where you are going to do the analysis, but 70 euros is quite expensive in my opinion,,,

i get a lot of stuff checked for that amount, you pick what you want, like a menu (they also have some pre-selected things)
here is what it looks like (price divided by 2 is the euro cost) https://www.synevo.bg/biohimiya-izsledvaniya/

I have to have a medical as part of my job , but it's probably not looking at optimal health levels , just basic fitness and kidneys , glucose etc

makes sense, your milkers won't be any good if you're dying!

Yearly, but I know one guy had the surprise fatty liver!

I haven't had one in probably 20 years or longer but am looking to get one done. I think I'm going to use InsideTracker. It's very expensive but since I haven't had one in so long I'm kind of looking for an exhaustive analysis.

I get them twice a year as part of my yearly check outs, in spring at the hospital, and in autumn at my employer's health cabinet).
