Many tools have cultures and sub-cultures develop around them. I mean, I'm a software guy and we have plenty of "cults" (the negative term) and "communities" (the positive). Honestly, I do think the cult label fits many in bitcoin's subculture but I find that people that use that negative term tend to paint with far to broad a brush.
A vocal minority can sound like a majority. I think this is the case with bitcoin. I imagine there are MANY quiet hodlers out there who aren't interested in many of the things we talk about here. As adoption grows the "cult" vibes will decrease but for now I don't think its a problem.
Just chill and stack.

Preach.
Been thinking about this a lot. Do you think there are many people who are really interested in btc and who would like to talk about it, but don't come here / aren't active here because they don't want to talk about it in a cultish way?
Serious question. I wonder how you'd do the experiment.

Yeah, I imagine there are people like that. I imagine there are people like that because I have no interest in talking about bitcoin on Twitter because of the culture there. Don't know how you'd do an experiment.

I was making a joke. I should have read it first :)
It could be a great article, for all I know. I was just reacting to the words tool and cult in the title.

Haha.
I think he said some sound things in there.
You shouldnt be in this position, but "Sell some if you need some cash, and it’s better to do this while bitcoin’s price is high."
This is very true.
But if you are a person who will need the cash, should you be putting it in bitcoin in the first place?

I think this is a pretty honest take on bitcoin.
