Someone on Nostr got heated when pointing the Bitaxe to a pool was mentioned so I’m curious as to what everyone thinks about this.

Should the Bitaxe only be used for lottery mining or are you stacking every single sat you can via a pool? Also, if you solo mine, what’s your favorite pool to use?

i understand solo mining is kinda fun in concept, but you can drip sats into your core lightning node, or your CoinOS account with Ocean and use that drip for zaps. and that seems much preferred to me over mining for a block with a chance to hit of 1 every 7000 years or so.

i mine with 2 bitaxes via DATUM with Ocean, and have sats sent to my core lightning node via bolt12 offer 🤙

reply

Sounds like a solid setup you have there.

I have the same thing, but with Braiins. I have it going to my CoinOs account

Braiins appears to be in bed with the Antpool mafia. you should consider using Ocean 🤙

reply

Use Ocean!

reply

Same setup here :), this is the way.

reply

I pool; Braiins

reply

I have recently been trying out Braiins - are they based in China?

reply

They are based in Europe.

reply

Thanks for that good to know.
I would like to know more about them as it makes it very easy to receive payments via LN.
Heard Ocean you need a special LN wallet but with Braiins I can use Coinos.

reply

You’re welcome. Yes, you need to configure a BOLT12 offer to receive Lightning payouts on OCEAN.

reply

I have no idea whether Coinos can configure to BOLT12, and if so, how.
Why have Ocean made it more difficult where Braiins make it so easy to get LN payment?
I just gave them a my LN address and Bingo- it works.

reply

I think OCEAN went the BOLT12 route for increased user privacy.

Even though it’s meant to be configured with a CLN node, there’s a middleground to get it working with Coinos. I wrote a guide here.

Prior to this, I was doing Braiins Lightning payouts and, I agree, it was very simple.

reply

Yep, simplicity is key

Either is good.

I was solo mining for a while, then switched to Ocean cause I want to see them get larger. When they're large enough I'll probably go back to solo mining.

Whats your share log %?

I just have a nerdaxe which does half a TH/s. Might scale up to 10 TH next bear market.

What’s a nerdaxe

Similar to a bitaxe supra. Next model up from a nerdminer.

reply

I do both currently.

reply

It’s my lowest performing miner, all of which I point at a pool
