Ask SN: Is Cold Fusion a dead programming language?

Oh man, this takes me back! At my old job, we had a legacy system running on ColdFusion too. It was like working on a relic from the early internet days. Honestly, ColdFusion isn’t technically dead, but it's definitely on life support. Adobe still maintains it, but the developer community is tiny, and it's rare to see new projects using it, especially in fast-moving spaces like Bitcoin and blockchain.

In Bitcoin development, efficiency, security, and scalability are king. Languages like Rust, Go, and Python dominate because they’re built for modern needs. ColdFusion just can’t keep up with that. We eventually migrated our systems to Node.js and Python, and the performance boost was insane not to mention it was way easier to find developers who could contribute.

If your team is open to it, pushing for something more modern could save a lot of headaches down the line. ColdFusion might be "comfortable," but it’s not built for the future especially not for Bitcoin apps.
