I get up out of my chair for a minute or two, and he's taken over.

My cats are the same. I have one cat that looks at me like, “Who are you to take my chair?” Then I reclaim my chair. She goes into it the second I leave and curls up for a nap. She is a bit different, though, a Maine Coon Cat. Big and furry, lots of fur.

Maine Coons are big, beautiful creatures. We have about twenty cats that hang out on our property to stare at our little pond and hope to catch a fish. Two of them are Maine Coons, who are owned by the lady next door.

Yes, they look like small lions. We are constantly surprised at how small she is underneath all that fur. In the summer, we do her the favor of cutting a lot of the fur with clippers to survive the heat. We inherited her from a son that had to rehome her due to his wife objecting to the fur all over the house. What a deal that was! We got two really great cats because they were long hairs.

It was a great deal! She is ours, now!!! I must get pictures of our cats up sometime. I don’t take them, but my wife does. She has lots of pictures, and I use one for my avatar on X, although I never post on X.

Please do. We need to create a Stacker's Cats Gallery.

LOL they always do that! But I do not like to bother them, just let them be. after a while they just go away.
Oh yeah and they like to do toiletry on themselves on your place...
I think is a thing about the energy you let behind you on that chair. Cats are always "energy eaters" and they give you back love.

I'm going to show my wife that, and she's going to absolutely die.

they are not eating your energy in the bad way... In fact they sit where is "bad energy" or you let some of your feelings away. Are like vacuum cleaners, getting what is bad and giving back love.
That's why sometimes cats are used in therapy with dying people.

Unfortunately bad. Every day is like consuming himself. Eating less and less, even that I give him very selective food that can just lick, he can't masticate so well, I think he have also gums pain. Water is still drinking regularly.
When I try to pet him is like avoiding, like feeling pain or is getting hypersensitive at touch.
But at least is coming slowly on my lap and sleep calmly. I only try to give him comfort.

That is sad. A cat slowly wasting away is the most sorrowful thing in the world. Our oldest is now 9 years old, so she has a way to go.

I don't know why but the other cats are avoiding him. Before they were quite social and friendly with him but now is like seeing a ghost around.
Maybe the feel something?

Probably. Cats seem to be quite astute about how each other is doing. I have one that is a “scaredy cat” who seems to get picked on all the time. She just invites it, it seems. I am sure the other cats are feeling what is happening and are trying to avoid it.
How old is your sick boy?
