Today, I moved some Bitcoin from LN to onchain via boltz.exchange. It wasn’t much—just slightly over Boltz’s minimum requirement of 25,000 sats—but it was a big moment for me.
I received my very first Bitcoin on Damus. It was early 2023, not long after Damus launched. Someone I followed sent me 10 sats. It got me started on my Bitcoin journey.
(A few months later, BlueWallet stopped its custodial wallet service, but I didn’t realize it. So, I ended up losing my first-ever Bitcoin. 😂)
Holding Bitcoin in my wallet felt different. I couldn’t help but imagine its potential and started learning more about it (shoutout to Mastering Bitcoin). And I started asking myself: How can I earn more sats?
Over time, I discovered platforms like sats4likes, litstak.com, and Bitcoin Magazine. Then came Stacker News, Fountain, and Yzer. Economically speaking, these apps won’t make you rich in Bitcoin, but they sure make using it more fun. The small amount of Bitcoin I’ve accumulated mostly comes from testing and trying out new apps like TMRW, rizful, and others.
Along the way, my interest in the Lightning Network grew deeper. I started reading Mastering the Lightning Network and experimenting with tools like getalby and various wallets (Muun, Breez, Coinos, D Wallet, Alby Go, and so on).
Recently, I learned about NWC (Nostr Wallet Connect), and I’m convinced it has huge potential for massive adoption of Bitcoin. I used to write code to create and pay invoices, relying on API services to make it work. With NWC, everything becomes simpler. For apps, integrating Bitcoin payments via NWC is low-cost and avoids the need to maintain custodial wallets for users, reducing legal risks.
So, what’s your Bitcoin story? I'd love to hear it!

Why not just being paid in bitcoin or even dump all your fiat money into BTC ? I really do not understand why people in 2025 are still afraid to go ALL IN into Bitcoin and waste their time with these breadcrumbs from faucets and all that crap, wasting their energy for a few sats.

Hi Darth, thanks for your comment. I read your guide from time to time, and it's like meeting a star in person!
Unfortunately, I live in a country where Bitcoin-related business is illegal. It's unbelievable how difficult it is to access Bitcoin here.
I really like how you described it as chasing breadcrumb sats — it's so true. I might have put my time and energy to better use.

LOL "illegal"...
I wonder when people will wake the fuck up... THEIR LAWS DO NOT APPLY TO YOUR BITCOIN.
reply
And that means I have no way to spend Bitcoin or get paid in Bitcoin.
reply
make it happen. It's up to you.
reply
Yeah, I’ll give it a shot. Like finding remote jobs or stuff like that.
It's funny but true. 😂 People can legally own Bitcoin, but companies aren not allowed to do any Bitcoin (and crypto) related business.
reply
People can legally own Bitcoin,
That is totally bullshit. Bitcoin is permissionless, you can do whatever the fuck you want with it. NOBODY can tell you what you can hold or not.
reply
Yeah, that’s true. My point is that Bitcoin-related activities are suppressed due to legal restrictions.

Interesting that you put 25k sats onchain. I think you will need at lot more than that if you're keeping it well into the future.
I think its interested how you got started. I think this is the way to onboard people zapping on nostr and SN.
reply
Yeah 25k sats is indeed too little. I see it as a milestone to inspire me to explore the bigger Bitcoin world.
And I totally agree that zapping is a great way to onboard new users. Actually owning some Bitcoin feels completely different. It’s like learning to swim in the water versus on land—it’s just not the same!
