That first article was great. I know you're an older guy like me. Were you ever on those PGP usenet groups in the early 90s? I remember being on them because I was a libertarian lawyer and I wanted to use encrypted emails for client communications. I loved the idea, but EVERY ONE of my clients thought it was too big a pain in the ass to encrypt emails! I never used it except with other PGP fans, and the messages we would encrypt were ridiculous and not very interesting😀
Do you know if those old usenets are archived anywhere? I'd like to look around and see if I can find a young me on there.
Unfortunately my internet journey started around 92-93. I was just escaping from the communist regime, young, poor and the priorities were others those years.
Very confusing times.
But yeah around 1995 I had my first PC ever paying a fortune for it. And yes I was using the BBS but the internet dialup was terrible those times. The infrastructure was barely starting to be improved.
Later I get to learn more and more about servers and going deep into this IT stuff, pgp encryption, email servers. In 2004 I was already the sys admin for a big company with many servers. It was fun.
