Today many web developers consider jQuery to be “legacy software.” With all due respect to this perspective, jQuery is currently used on 75% of all public websites, a number that dwarfs all other JavaScript tools.
That doesn’t make it not legacy. It’s very likely that many of those websites don’t have much budget for “new development.” Legacy also doesn’t mean bad. But new websites being built today (most likely) shouldn’t use it. I think that’s what makes it legacy.
