government schools are designed to create conformity and limit creativity.
There's an economic theory called the signaling theory of education. It says that you don't go to college to get the skills you need for your first job. You go to college to show employers that you are willing to trudge through boring and meaningless mental tasks, sometimes without even knowing why you're doing it.
I share that theory. Not to say you don't/can't learn in college but it is primarily a filter/hand stamp. It makes sense. I get it. But given the cost both in time and money its stupidly wasteful.
