When we start walking down the Bitcoin rabbit hole, we are always advised which wallet to use. In the case of layer 1 there are not many problems, rather it is a matter of taste. In general, all of them work in all regions in one way or another, they connect quite well and the issue of fees is governed by mining fees. So it doesn't matter which one you use.
In the case of Lightning Network, it is another matter. Let's look at what is recommended.
Running a node gives you more privacy, and in some way if you route you can have some profit, but if it is private you have more control of your funds, you are your own bank. But to run a node you must have a good connection and technical knowledge.
The technical aspects are solved with integrated nodes such as Zeus, Breez and Blixt, they are easy to install and almost all the work is done almost by itself.
It is time to open the channels, here the economy comes into play, both to pay for the opening operation and for the capacity of the channel. Zeus, opening a channel with the Olympus LSP is temporary, so you only have a time to use it, and to do so without the LSP financing you have to pay 10k SAT, in Cuba half of a professional's salary, in Colombia a day's salary for a worker is minimum wage.
Breez charges 2500 SAT when opening, doubling the deposit made (50k SAT deposit and opening with 100k SAT), a viable solution, but only for those who can have the stash to use it.
Blixt is another thing, opening a channel via Lightning is cheap and has a capacity of 410k SAT, very good for us.
The capacity of the channel associated with a good deposit is recommendable, but not always viable. It is recommended to open with 2M SAT or more, in Cuba whoever has 2M SAT does not open a channel, buys a ticket and leaves the country.
The connection sometimes influences, here it is not the same everywhere. There are places where a private node is unthinkable, poor connectivity and electricity. It is not the same elsewhere. So when we help others with adoption we always make them see what is advisable, even if it is not always viable, then we help them to find what is advisable as soon as possible and in the meantime, we help them to use what is viable in their case in the best possible way.
