If I had to make an uneducated guess, I'd say digits, as a brand, would sustain or multiply an extra dimension to Nvidia's stockprice, or earnings ledger.

That's a pretty cold, uninteresting reason for a new product line, but this wouldn't challenge the leading hardware vendors?

How many are doing system-on-a-chip and unified memory? Is it currently only apple? You could be right that there's some other factors at play, undoubtedly would be a carefullly considered move. Would supplychain and manufacturing be a part of it?

I'm sticking with my guess of financials/economics, to branch out of gpus into a direct head-to-head with apple.
