Hey, Happy New Year! I'm glad you've tried it! There are couple of monopoly-like games where you can execute the same, basically all games were you have money and transactions between players, or bank to player. We were also trying to add this element to Catan as my daughter loves Catan, but it didn't end up well. I believe there is a room to explore though)
