What ever happened to low time preference?

Applications like this are fluid. It’s cowboy credits today and it can be sats tomorrow. What’s most important is keeping the site viable and not getting screwed by stupid laws.

Even Satoshi warned about kicking the hornets nest.

I’m a SN maxi. As long as koob doesn’t sell out and add XRP and ETH support I will continue to use SN and be a happy customer.

It’s funny people throw out the word shitcoin with no context whatsoever.

One last thing I will add if you hate cowboy credits that much then you can fork the code and run your own version of Stacker News and bootstrap your platform nothing is stopping anyone from doing this.

This is really a nice POV. I don't know why people are saying bad things about CC. It hasn't changed anything; you can use it to pay for posts and comments just like you used Sats.

CC credits are great. The only people complaining are the people who come to the platform to earn bitcoin. SN isn't about earning satoshi's its about meaningful discussion and community.

To disincentivize assmilkery, we should have a setting to send cowboy credits instead of sats, that way they get rewarded with a few free posts or a cheaper territory fee. Imagine being an assmilk disrespector and enabling CC only mode, you'd get a cowboy boot image next to your name signifying your participation in kicking out the heathens.

CCs = WoW gold For those that don't know, WoW is World of Warcraft game, where in game you use some gold coins to trade stuff. But people find ways to trade them outside of the game.

Not a mess, but a scam—so prevalent that people here don’t even realize it. I don’t care; I won’t die if I stop using SN. I’d rather do what I like. There are plenty of decentralized platforms out there, and I’ll try them. But I’ll never support a place where my sats are being taken and replaced with a worthless shitcoin token.

i think this tread covers it #837282 mind you , i matched my settings and i find i am still mostly sending out CC , although a whopping 32 zap seems to reliably come from my attached wallet, i just zapped you and it worked

I think CCs are good for beginners who don't know how to setup a wallet and want to participate. So in this respect I like it. Beyond that, I don't see the point using it.

If I can send or receive sats, then I don't see the point using it. And I prefer when I pay a small fee to send sats (unless it gets converted to CCs). It can be cowboy credit or points by the way, never used points even though I am aware supermarkets use it as money equivalent. I always preferred using "real" money. Exchanging real money to show how we value posts was a very good idea in my opinion. I understand though with fees, by sending sats below a threshold there can be issues.

I need to think about this a bit more. I'm okay with it as long as we can still do peer-to-peer, but I get where people are coming from. Imagine someone who doesn't spend much but gets tons of CCs - they're basically stuck with useless CCs! I mean, they're worth nothing since you can't trade them, only spend them!

SN must remove the leaderboard and rewards so stackers can trade freely over zaps. Otherwise will be a mess... But yeah, only few are paying attention to my warnings and requests but instead are throwing shit on me.
