It was Saturday, but my son woke up at 7.15am, thirty mins before his usual wake-up timing.
The trip to Ueno Zoo in Japan last month had filled his psyche with much love for pandas 🐼 - and by extension, red pandas.
We have a rule in our house: buy a new toy every month.
My son had received money from his doting grandparents. He had received clearance from his mum to buy a red panda this month. The stage was set for his next conquest.
After breakfast, I accompanied him to the toy store several subway stations away from our house. He decided to use his money to buy two boxes of red pandas.
We then went to an eatery after that, and he asked for my camera to take the above photos. There was one more photo he took, and you can see it below. Yes, he took all his panda toys to the toy store.
He’s five, and he knows how to occupy his time with the things that he likes. I hope his spirit doesn’t get crushed by external pressures, be it from school, his friends or even his parents, as he grows up.
