So , Trader University , imo worthy content , recommends Strike all the time , and again in his most recent excellent vid .
Problem is , I go to get it and the ios App Store is full of shitty reviews . Really bad ones . Lots of them . The big ones I was seeing over and over were about account lockings for seemingly arbitrary reasons and an exceptionally wretched customer service.
Because of this I have held off on downloading . But today I had the thought that perhaps those are shills who are trying to throw a wrench in the inevitable .
So , How is your experience with Strike ?

my only problem is the fact that they have a very specific type of plaid integration where you can only automatically connect your bank. They won't allow manual bank connection. And some bank debit cards just fail and customer service won't give you an explanation. They'll say dont use that or it wont work.

interesting . This must be part of what is messing most people up if those terrible reviews are earnest...

the best feature, in my opinion, is the ability to take your dollar balance in the app and make a payment to a bitcoin or lightning address without actually purchasing bitcoin first.
instant fund via a debit card to add dollars to your app then tap the QR code icon on the top-right and scan or paste a bitcoin, or lightning invoice. magic.

Medium.
When it works, it works great. I do have some complaints though.
I've had my bank accounts and debit cards randomly stop working. Deposits fail. This has happened 3 times over the past year. Each time I have to email them to fix it. It took me two weeks to get it resolved one time.
I started out at $100 a week. I had to fight to get an upgrade to $250 a week. Then it took me almost a year to be allowed to do $1000 a week. I emailed them probably half a dozen times. Each time was the same result that gradually over time I'd be allowed to do more.
It's not because I have no money in my account. It's not because I have bad credit. I have money in my account. I have an 800+ credit score. Shitcoin casino's let me deposit half of my entire year's salary a day, if I wanted to do so.
Strike has a lot of growing pains and shows that they're just a very small company quite often. I am hopeful though that they'll continue to improve.

Strike works for me. No weird account locking except near the beginning when I first started using strike. Locked my account randomly for a day and then after complaining to customer service they unlocked my account after 48 hours and never locked it again. The plaid integration honestly is another security risk but fiat world is just full of clown stuff. Just remember to ground your expectations, you are using strike’s services so you are asking them permission. The app will work until it doesn’t then you’re at strike’s mercy. Don’t treat your strike balance as your money because when it comes time to withdraw from your locked account, you’ll be disappointed. Not your keys not your coins.

I have had an excellent experience with it. Pretty much just use it to DCA and occasionally transfer my balance to cold storage. Never had any issues with a locked account or anything.
Had one experience where my direct deposit didn't post on the expected day and reached out to customer service. They got back to me within 24 hours and everything got resolved. So far so good. Been using it for around a year or so.

good to know thanks

I've never had a problem with Strike but I have heard that customer service isn't very helpful. Most of that is due to the KYC/AML BS, that is they can't disclose what caused your account to get flagged without getting themselves in trouble. The solution is to move any Bitcoin that you purchase immediately to a wallet where you hold the keys if you're stacking or a reputable exchange if you're trading.

The Pay Me in Bitcoin feature is incredibly useful as I have my paycheck send directly to Strike to stack sats whenever I get paid. Never had a problem withdrawing to a wallet. Haven’t used it much for peer to peer but it’s worked well the few times I have. All in all the best KYC exchange I’ve used.

Strike allows for ‘instant’ funding from a debit card, and they’re carrying some risk while they wait for the transaction to clear. My guess is that their low weekly limits relate to this model.
Besides the low weekly limits, my experience has been very positive. It’s easy to use, fees are minimal, allows for instant withdrawal to a cold wallet, and the support team has been helpful and responded quickly the few times I reached out (once to increase the deposit limits, which they did)
