Given that respect flows to elders/institutions in many Asian cultures, I'm surprised we don't hear about Asian mobs more. Then again, the lack of reporting might be a sign that they are more powerful and working well.
Olgarchies (and in previous times aristocratic) families have always been a thing and are in every country. The question is only to which extent. East Asia has this problem for sure.
