It has been an illuminative year of growth. Learning is good because this means I’m responsive towards the feedback Life has unravelled for me this year. As the main character in The Perks of Being a Wallflower might say, be a filter, not a sponge.
What I have learnt this year
-
It’s worth spending the extra time to say thank you face to face rather than send a quick message just so I can strike it off my to-do list.
-
I can feel invested in my job without feeling that it is a huge part of my identity.
-
I don’t have to wait for the right conditions to write something. Now is a great time.
-
I always get fresh ideas for writing whenever I step into the bathroom.
-
Precisely because my freedom is limited, I feel especially exhilarated on my rare day or night off.
-
Jealousy is a useful emotion because it helps me really think about what I want out of life. It’s okay to be financially poorer than my peers if I’m spiritually richer.
-
I just want to create premium value on things which I’m uniquely qualified to address.
-
Parenting does offer joy, but these moments are as fleeting as soap bubbles. Soak in the moment when your child sparks joy.
-
Being consistency is in itself a reward. I respect myself and my ambition enough to stay up late or wake up early to work on stuff.
-
I’m happier when I travel lighter on life, both literally and figuratively. Own less things. Curate my memories.
