I've been a minimalist since inception, either if surrounded by abundance, it has always been a challenge for me to get rid of stuff that I, or some of my loved ones, was (unconsciously) stacking and not using. I blame our western culture, especially during this season, for spreading negligent consumerism.
So I've been always selling, donating, gifting and I found this article interesting, especially for highlighting tools and some tricks that I was unaware of.
After reading, look at all those things you received lately...

One trick I have learned is making stupid buying hard; after I deleted all the online shopping accounts, I directly order from makers& artisans only.
The last order I made took two months, from start to finish, processing raw material to make into the things I want ( literally two months of waiting!! 😂), but now I have something that last for years.

I have a simple method : I buy a thing only if I can answer most of these questions with a yes:
  1. Do I genuinely need it and I can answer myself why I need it objectively?
  2. Does it have a proper place where I can store it in my house ? If no, then don’t buy. Especially clothes.
  3. Do I already have more of the same item? If yes, what novelty/advantage does this new item provide ? If nothing new, don’t buy.
  4. Does it have utility ? If it’s just for attraction/decoration, I avoid buying it.
  5. Can I buy it twice ? If yes, it gets more points in favour of buying.
