From the outside looking in this isn't a good look. He played till he set a record then doesn't play anymore arguably costing his team the win. Since he played he had an insurance policy and was protected if the worst thing happened. Not playing after the half might give NFL scouts pause and could be a factor in if he or Sanders goes #1 to the Giants.

He will still be the second QB picked but that isn't a good look.

My understanding is he played until he got a TD record

Yep and that's my issue he's supposed to be a franchise QB but only played for the record before he stopped playing. His team was up and after he left they couldn't score to save their life and because of that lost.

I think the system is to blame. Money has ruined athletics. The NFL can easily fix this issue. Setting a competition standard for all eligible prospects would kill this in a heartbeat.

But why should Cam Ward go all out in a meaningless bowl game? What incentive does he have?

One might think to represent the school but I believe he’s portal transfer.

Some thoughts to consider:

I assume he has no true deep rooted loyalty to the school. Like Rudy did for Notre Dame.

Modern athletes just want to be paid competition takes a back seat.

He draws attention to himself by doing this both positive and negative.

Agreed

Glass is half full. He played half a game. Is it better if he didn’t play at all?

reply

I'd argue yes because it looks like he just wanted the record and that it wasn't a health thing cause if it was he wouldn't have dressed period
