I understand SN was started to be an online space for bitcoiners and developers to collaborate and share ideas. But, has anyone ever attempted to use it to help promote in-person community meet-ups?
I wanted to start a hosting bitcoin meet-ups in my community, since currently I can't find any. I'm thinking about the best ways to market this.
I don't want to use traditional because im pretty much off those completely. A bitcoin-friendly platform such as SN would seem to be a great place to put announcements, agenda items and so on. I'd probably supplement with a Twitter and Nostr profile too, but put mostly just to direct people to the SN posts.
In terms of anonymity, I think there really would be no reason for anyone participating to dox themselves online.
Now, I'm thinking before I do anything, I should probably put a feeler out there to get a 'read of the room' about using SN in this manner.
Does it contradict a part of SN's mission in a way that I'm not seeing?
Has anyone any suggestions?

There's an ~events territory. We also have a PR open for a special event post type that will display event post types in a calendar. It just needs focused attention that we haven't had recently.

The territory had escaped my attention until now. And that sounds cool, I'd appreciate that feature!

Yes, please.
You’re more than welcome to share any and all events in the ~events territory.
I would also suggest you get a Geyser page made up for your events so people can contribute with sats on a more fixed basis.
